3 Strategies Selling Agents Can Learn From Hollywood

Have you been looking for ways to increase your sales and client base? If things have been stagnate concerning your sales figures, there are many strategies that you can try out to see what works for you. Have you ever thought about studying the tricks and strategies that Hollywood uses to attract customers and viewers? They are the experts with multi-million dollar blockbusters every year and classics that people can watch over and over again. Here are a few strategies that the showbiz industry uses that you can implement into your list of resources as well.

1. Develop a Hook A "hook" is something that grabs someone's attention. It's used a lot in the music industry as many songs have a hook, which is typically the most memorable part of the song. But people working in Hollywood are also masters of the hook. Did you know that "Gone with the Wind" was originally supposed to be entitled "Tomorrow is Another Day"? Do you think it would have had the same popularity had the producers decided to go with the original title? Probably not because it's just not catchy.

When you are making cold calls or leaving messages, always lead with a hook that will grab their attention. Instead of leading with your phone number and your name, tell them what you do and how you can help them. If you are running a promotion or offering a discount, start with that. You'll be more likely to keep their attention and then you can end with leaving your phone number and other less interesting information.

2. Tailor Your Message to Your Audience

This is one of the more important strategies that you can learn from Hollywood, but it's also a basic strategy that can help increase your sales. If you were pitching movies, you wouldn't pitch a children's movie the same way you'd pitch the summer's biggest action thriller, would you? It's the same with selling insurance. You should know your customers and their needs so you can create a pitch that will compel them to purchase the products and services that you are offering to them. You might have to decide between presenting your message with a more emotional appeal or a more logical approach. You can decide between being informal or formal. The important thing is to know your customers so you can create a presentation that is going to appeal to them instead having a "one size fits all" cookie cutter approach that won't appeal to anybody.

3. Be a Good Storyteller

Everybody loves to hear a good story. That's why people pay $10 for a movie ticket and $25 for a tub of popcorn - so they can go hear a good story and enjoy some snacks at the same time. While pie charts and numbers have their place, they can't replace the persuasiveness of a great story. Practice your storytelling skills. Your stories should involve a few basic components, such as a setting (time and place), an obstacle and how your product helped overcome the obstacle. If you can add humor, that's even better!

Regardless of your industry, we can all learn a little something from Hollywood if we look closely enough at their strategies. If you correctly employ these suggestions when pitching your products to customers, you'll undoubtedly see your sales figures increase.

Choices

You can do and you can be whatever you want. You have the power, and the right, to make the changes.

There are many choices to be made as daily life goes by. There are changes in our world and choices in our lives. There are those who come and those who go. There are those who enrich, and those who drain. There are thoughts which improve our daily grind, and there are thoughts that depress us and bring us down.

Every chance meeting, every friendship, every love, every choice we make, changes us inside and out in ways we neither see nor notice until sometime later.

All of a sudden we encounter an old circumstance, but we handle it in a new way a better way. The choices and the changes we made have caused us to grow, to improve, and we can move on unafraid.

You have one life to live, don't let it count for naught. You have too much to give, Choose to give it!

Sterling Silver Jewelry Fashion Trends for the New Year and Beyond

Each year, on fashion runways from New York to Paris, Milan, and Toyko, sterling silver is "new again" as designers interpret it in new and exciting ways. What makes sterling silver a fashion perennial? The answer is clear: when it comes to beauty, versatility, durability, and affordability, sterling silver jewelry is unsurpassed.

In the hands of talented artists and designers, sterling silver is constantly "reinvented" to suit the evolving tastes of the women who wear it. But whether as a ring, a necklace, or bracelet, standing alone or presented in combination with gemstones and other precious metals...sterling silver is always in fashion.

Here's a look at what's "hot" this year:

Peace of Silver

In 2004, many Oscar presenters and recipients wore gracefully and simply designed "Dove of Peace." pin. Embraced by such Hollywood luminaries as Meryl Streep, Susan Sarandon, Drew Barrymore, and Leonardo DiCaprio, it has also been seen on the Dali Lama and Nobel Peace Laureates Oscar Aria Sanchez, Betty Williams, Mairead Corrigan Maguire, and former UN Assistant Secretary-General Gillian Sorrensom.

Now non-celebrities may purchase the pin in sterling silver pin to demonstrate both their commitment to peace and their fashion sense. The 2005 sterling silver interpretation was designed by award-winning American jewelry artist Henry Dunay to resonate the energy of Picasso's "Dove Of Peace."

Silver Screen

With the enormous popularity of the "Lord of the Rings" series, it comes as no surprise that designers have created jewelry based on the elaborately crafted pieces in the films. Based on the actual pendant worn in the Lord of the Rings film, the Arwen Evenstar Pendant is crafted in sterling silver and comes in a wooden gift box. Measuring 2-1/2 inches in length with a 18" sterling silver chain and a Swarovski crystal stone, each piece is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, adding long-term value to its other charms.

Works Like A Charm

Charm bracelets are both wonderfully retro and extremely cutting edge. Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Avril Levigne, Hilary Duff, and other high-visibility high-fashion celebrities are wrapping their wrists in silver bracelets with the hip L.A. brand "Eldorado Club."

The "Girlie Charm Bracelet" is adorned with charming femme-friendly charms including a cat, a cocktail glass, and a kitty.

Sterling Silver - Always In Style for Your 25th Anniversary No matter what list you consult -- traditional, modern or the now popular "ultra-modern" (which includes items like clocks and appliances) -- silver is the 21st Century gift of choice for a 25th wedding anniversary. Whether it's silver's durability, its strength, its flexibility or its unparalleled beauty, sterling silver is an exquisite memento of 25 years of loving commitment between a couple.

Topping the list of this year's "What's Hot" in silver wedding anniversary gifts, women say they want charm bracelets, hoop earrings, and hair ornaments. For wives who would like to present their husbands with sterling silver tokens, the "top of the charts" picks are cufflinks, tie clips, money clips, neck chains, and I.D. bracelets.

But #1 for him AND her -- a classic sterling silver Tiffany keyring.

Choosing The Right Flashlight

A flashlight is an important tool that every person should have. From the simple task of lighting up an area, flashlights are useful in many applications like rescue operations, signaling, outdoor activities and even self defense. Because you have the option to choose among a wide variety of flashlights that are used for different purposes, it is important that you pick the one that best suits your needs. What to look for in a flashlight

As mentioned earlier, some of the flashlights are specifically designed for certain tasks. Before buying a flashlight, the first and foremost thing you need to do is to identify the purpose for which the device is going to be used. The other main factors that have to be considered before selecting a good flashlight include:

• intensity of light given out by the light source • size • weight • battery life • durability of the device

Battery power

While alkaline batteries work well when there is a power failure at your home or the circuit breaker trips, they are generally not favored because of their lesser shelf life when compared to Lithium batteries. Lithium batteries are available in standard cylinder type batteries and different coin type cells and they offer better shelf life, high power, and improved performance in poor weather conditions. Since they have many advantages over alkaline batteries, Lithium batteries are mostly preferred. So depending on the battery life and amount of power you need, you have to decide on the flashlight accordingly.

Light bulbs

Flashlights generally use incandescent light bulbs, light emitting diodes (LEDs) or High intensity discharge bulbs (HIDs) as the light source. Incandescent light bulbs have a thin filament which heats up when electric current passes through it, causing the light to glow. Even though they produce bright light, they are not long lasting or shock resistant. So in situations which require a lot of light, an incandescent flashlight is probably a good choice.

Recent flashlights mostly use LEDs as their light source. LEDs have several advantages over the incandescent light bulbs. They are very durable and highly reliable too. They also consume very less power, which eliminates the need for frequent battery replacements. There are many LED flashlights that run for more than hundreds of hours on one set of batteries. If you want to invest on a good quality flashlight that can save you money on the long run, then LED flashlights are the right choice.

HIDs use metal vapor for producing light and are several times powerful than incandescent light bulbs. When compared to incandescent light bulbs, they produce brighter light and last longer too.

Color of the beam

LEDs that emit different colors are popular nowadays. These are very easy on the eyes. Red and green colored lights can be used for night vision. So when buying a flashlight meant for nighttime use, you can consider one with variable beam colors. Flashlight material

The casings of flashlights are usually made of plastic or metals like aluminum. Plastic flashlights are cheaper and are suitable for light duty use. Metal flashlights on the other hand are strong, durable and expensive too.

Conclusion

When choosing the right flashlight, always go with a good quality one that will not let you down when you need it. Keep in mind all the different features that have been mentioned above. Even if you have to pay a little extra money, go with a flashlight that would last for several years.

Simple Fundamentals to Selling Items on eBay

One of the easiest ways to make money on the Internet is by selling items on eBay. It does not matter if you are selling collectibles, antiques, toys, electronics, or just things that you do not want in your garages any more, there are a few key things that you should be aware of before you try to sell anything on eBay. This article will outline the some of those selling basics.

First of all, you need to know exactly what it is you are going to be selling. This is extremely important, if you do not know what the items is you are selling, it is quite hard to write a proper description, know its value, or even know who might buy it. You will need to know what the item does, what it is used for, what features it might have, how to use it and its potential value. Make sure to do this for every item you are going to try to sell on eBay. It might sound like a lot of work but with the help of Google, it can go by quite quickly.

Once you have figured out what the items are you are looking to sell on eBay, you will need to check to see if these items are in demand. This will take a bit more research. The reason for this is that there might be many things you want to sell but if there is not some kind of demand for these products, they will not sell. If you want to make money with eBay, you have to try to sell things that will actually sell.

Now that you know all about the items that you will list on eBay, the next thing to do is to find out a bit of information about your potential customers. By looking on eBay for similar items as well as in and around Google, you can find out what type of person might be interested in your items. This will make it a lot easier for you to target your descriptions, pictures and prices for these potential customers. By doing this, you are increasing the likelihood that your products will be seen by the people who will want to purchase them and result in more sales.

Next we move over to eBay itself. You will need to read their rules for selling items to ensure that you are not violating anything. Also, you will want to familiarize yourself with the entire process from both the seller's perspective as well as the buyer's point of view. Knowing what hoops the buyer has to go through in order to buy your items will help you make the selling process go much easier as well as possibly catch problems with customers before they happen. From your side of things, looking into how to create, setup and optimize your account before you actually take the actions will make everything go smoothly. You do not want to find out 2 months down the road that you missed a critical step in the process that has now come back to bite you in the behind.

Once you know all about eBay it is time to move onto payment processing, so you can actually collect some money for your sold items. The easiest and most convenient payment process for eBay is PayPal. It is completely free for people to open an account and it allows you to accept PayPal money transfers as well as most major credit cards. They have been around for a long time and are used a lot for buyers and sellers on eBay.

Last but not least, you need to make sure that you have a good digital camera on hand. So many items do not get sold because the pictures are blurry and you just cannot tell what the item is or the shape that it is in. So if you want to buy one(from eBay even) or borrow one from a friend, make sure that it takes good quality photos of your items.

If you follow these few basic fundamentals when it comes to starting to sell items on eBay to make money, then you will start off on the right foot. If this sounds like too much work or is too complicated, the other option is to use an eBay Consignment Service. All you have to do it send them some quick information about your product with a few photos. They will determine if it has a chance of selling and then will do all the work of listing and selling the item for you. For a small fee of course but it is a small price to pay for someone else to do the work for you.

Life Lines

Joyce Meyers has been inspiring Christians for decades with the pearls of inspirational wisdom which she has faithfully shared via her radio program and books. Now, her husband Dave shares a powerful devotional crafted from a strong, personal walk with the Lord. Let's take a look at the book that will certainly capture the attention of those drawn to Christian devotionals.

Dave Meyers is one of those rare men who works quietly in the shadow of their wife's ministry. Joyce Meyers, who has been inspiring and motivating Christians for decades is a strong inspirational and motivational speaker in her own right. Still, Joyce credits the quiet, strong leadership of her husband in keeping her ministry on track as well as debt free. In reading Life Lines you will fully appreciate the saying, "still waters run deep" and quickly understand that Dave's relationship with his Savior is a strong one.

Life Lines is only 126 pages in length, but each page is a separate devotional that stands by itself. On any given page the first thing that you will read is a Biblically based saying followed by the chapter and verse that the saying is based upon. The body of the devotional is a 1-2 paragraph exposition of the text full of wisdom and laced with nuggets of truth. Indeed, on page 98 Meyers states: God is more interested in your stability than your tranquility. He then references Psalm 1:2-3 for supporting text and sums up how "a life rooted in God and His Word is like a tree rooted in the eternal stream."

The devotional is composed of five chapters featuring five separate themes:

Faith

Grace and Forgiveness

Character

Life in Christ

Secrets of Daily Living

I personally like to read devotionals from varying themes on one day or several devotionals from the same theme on another day. You may find yourself cracking open the Word and reading the supporting chapter to glean the most out of every devotional. Truly, Meyer's book exhorts believers to seek God's will for every aspect of their lives. In that, this book is a real gem.

Life Lines is published by Warner Faith, New York, 2004 and is available at Christian bookstores everywhere or through Joyce Meyers Ministries.

Google Reader Saves Time and Increases Ability to Gather Information

Google Reader is another excellent tool for maximizing your time management and keeping organized. There are many readers out there to choose from whose main function is to let you subscribe to blogs, collect them, and read them all from a central location. Google Reader is among the many resources offered by Google when you have an account. It is easily accessed through your Gmail and is designed specifically for keeping up to date on your favorite blogs. Using a reader is a time-saving strategy for anyone who visits a lot of blogs and wants a way to keep track of them. It serves the needs of business professionals, bloggers, internet marketers, and avid web surfers. Generally, what it does is bring the web to you rather than you going to every blog one at a time.

The way to utilize a reader is to subscribe to a blog's RSS feed. RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication which aggregates the content of your blog to its own RSS feed address. This allows people to subscribe to it and receive post in their reader as they happen. The way to subscribe to a blog feed is to go to the feed address which can be found by clicking the RSS link usually indicated by the orange RSS symbol displayed on most blogs. When you're on a blog you want to keep track of and read again, simply find the RSS icon, click it and you will end up at that blog's feed address where you can choose the reader of your choice and subscribe.

When you subscribe to a blog feed you will start getting the post from these blogs. When you activate the reader feature in your Gmail you'll see the name of each blog listed and can access each one by clicking on the title. When you do this the latest post appears for you to enjoy. You can easily toggle between different blogs and different post and scan over the content very fast which allows you to go over a lot of material. You can also subscribe to an unlimited number of feeds and add or delete subscriptions at any time.

Much like Google Alerts, which aggregates web content and delivers it to your Gmail account, a reader brings the information to you as well. Some other advantages to using a reader are you can see what your competition is blogging about, know when new products are being launched, and stay up to date on what more advanced bloggers are posting. This really keeps you informed and you won't miss things that are happening in the blogosphere. It will save a lot of time because you don't have to visit each and every site. This is a big plus, as it saves time and increases how fast you receive information and learn. It also helps you remember blogs which can be easy to forget when you read a lot of different ones.

I still enjoy searching around on the web the old-fashioned way, this is often how we stumble upon great sites to begin with. So once we do discover a site with interesting content and with valuable information we want it to be accessible. This is a good business practice that just makes sense. Make it a habit to use a reader and you'll see how much time you'll save and how many blogs you get to keep up with. It will give you a competitive edge over those who don't use one. It works very well and is a convenient way to have a system to have your favorite blogs in a sort of library for instant retrieval to get the information you want when you want it.

Online Article Directories Should Get Into the E-Book Business, Let Me Explain

With the deluge of information, it is getting harder and harder to find the information you need, or the information you seek regardless of the area of human endeavor. If you are in business for yourself you need this information to make good decisions, and you need to stay up on everything and ahead of your competition when any new innovation comes into your field.

This is why most business people like myself have virtual radar for information in their sector, take Google News alerts, and surf the news in their industry almost on a daily basis. Wouldn't it be better if we can get all of this information consolidated and available to us so we can read it all at once? I believe so, therefore I would like to display a new concept I have, but before I do I would like to enlighten you as to how I came about this thought.

You see, there was an interesting article published on October 15, 2012 in The WRAP (covering Hollywood) titled; "Chicago Tribune Launches Ebook Initiative - but L.A. Times Opts Out," by Alexander C. Kaufman which stated;

"Tribune Company has kicked off an ebook initiative in partnership with Agate Publishing, collecting stories and photos from the Chicago Tribune and two other newspapers and selling them as digital long-form features. Tribune, has already released about two dozen e-books since spring, has strung together archived work from its namesake paper and the Orlando Sentinel and sold the e-books for $4.99."

Is this a viable concept? Sure, and I believe they should be taking this to a whole new level. You see, I myself clip articles out of magazines, newspapers, and save electronic news articles to my "favorites" or "plus them" on Google for instance. Now then, for my e-reader wouldn't it be nice to pick all the articles with certain key words and then have them compiled for me into an eBook format on my topics? It's a natural.

What if the top online article directories which had over 1 million articles on a multitude of different subjects allowed an e-reader customer to specify certain authors, in certain categories of subject matter, along with certain dates to search through their directory and collect all the articles which fit into that criteria, and then make them into an e-book. What if each title of each article became a chapter on the table of contents, and each article was listed in the e-book, perhaps 100 to 150 articles in each e-book?

What if they sold those e-books for $2.99 in formats which might be available on Kindles, Nooks, tablets, or iPads? Wouldn't that be a good idea, and solve the problem which I discussed in the first paragraph? Wouldn't that be an excellent business model to pursue? How hard would it be? The whole thing could be automated. People could order an e-book on demand with the information that they wanted, leaving all the other debris behind. Please consider all this and think on it.

Why Do You Need a Tacklebox?

A tacklebox or a tackle bag is a necessity to store your fishing lures, bobbers, and hooks.

A tacklebox is a necessity to store your expensive lures. The more you fish the more expensive lures you will accumulate. I can't imagine over time having a tangled mess of barbed metal to contend with. Nothing beats staying organized. Therefore, having a tacklebox is a must.

So the question remains what type of tackle box do you need? There are many different types of tackleboxes to choose from. I suggest a tackle box with sufficient storage for your current needs then double it. Also to keep in mind your tacklebox should have sufficient compartments to hold some oversized lures. You wouldn't want the oversized lures to tangle maps, leaders, or bandages.

What should you include in your tacklebox?

Bandage strips contained in a water-resistant container Matches sealed in a water-resistant container Suntan lotion Flashlight and spare batteries Spare car key in a small case attached to a large colorful bobber. (Hint: The bobber has to be large enough so that the small case does not sink).

For the salt-water enthusiast, tackle bags may be a practical alternative to tackle boxes. These tackle bags have plastic cylinders inside to hold saltwater lures. As well, the tackle bags have side compartments for leaders.

Although the tackle bags are convenient, remember not to lay your tackle bag on the sand as the tide can sweep up your tackle bag and take it to unknown places along with your expensive saltwater lures and your car keys. Or may have the unfortunate fate of having your tackle bag run over by a four-wheel drive vehicle or a dune buggy. Yes, this can happen.

The Most Important Aspects Of Employment Law

If you are a new business owner or an existing company looking to employ people for the first time then there are many laws governing employment that you must be aware of. There will be differences in employment law depending upon which country your business operates in but in general these points will apply. Not abiding by these laws can have very serious consequences and can even lead to your business being shut down by the government so it is advisable that you familiarize yourself with them and do everything in your power to comply.

Minimum Wages And Payments

Most countries have a minimum wage that must be paid to workers to comply with the law. In the United States this is currently around seven dollars per hour and it applies to the majority of workers. There are some exceptions to this and these include executive, administrative and professional employees, commission only sales workers and teachers and professors. You need to check with the government whether the positions that you want to fill are covered by the law or exempt from it. Payments for overtime worked are also governed by this law.

Safety In The Workplace

It is the company owner's responsibility to ensure that the safest possible working conditions exist for their employees. Failure to do this could lead to heavy prosecution especially if an employee is injured due to the employer's negligence in this area. There have been many cases where businesses have been closed due to violation of safety laws. It is mainly common sense and is not onerous to implement. Providing protective clothing, fire extinguishers and proper fire exits, using signs to indicate hazardous areas or spillages and the storage of dangerous materials or items are a few of the common safety requirements.

Discrimination

There should be absolutely no discrimination against people in the workplace based on their gender, race, their country of origin or if they have disabilities of any kind. This also applies to job interviews before a person actually becomes employed by the company. An interview should be based solely on the person's abilities and specialized knowledge that is required to perform the work and no discriminatory factors based on them as a person should be taken into consideration. Once a person is employed they should be provided equal opportunity in terms of wages, hours of work, type of work to be undertaken and advancement within the company.

Company Handbook

Although not required by law in most countries, a handbook which details what is expected of employees in terms of conduct, hours of attendance, pay and conditions, company procedures and safety will be viewed as a very positive step by the authorities. It is important that all workers are clear on what their responsibilities are and also can see the steps that the company are taking to ensure their safety and offer them equal opportunities in their workplace.

Innovative Rubber End Caps

End caps are great small pieces of hardware components that can be found in the home, office or industrial environment. There is a plethora of applications with end caps especially those of rubber materials.

Rubber end caps are often found in piping to close off one or both ends for safety or plumbing purposes especially during handling, transportation and storage. Rubber is a very flexible and soft material which allows an easy snap on to the pipe ends while providing a good cushion for pipes to prevent cracking, splitting or chipping of pipes.

Applications

Rubber caps are put on pipes of mailing tube ends for a secure storage of important documents inside. They are also used as a nice finish for display rack pipes in retail stores.

Rubber end caps function to prevent dust, dirt and moisture from getting into the pipes. These caps of various diameters can fit various pipe sizes in the home, office or industry.

Rubber caps are easily applied on any pipe by an easy firm snap. Home furniture can be made safer and more durable with rubber caps on the furniture legs to allow the furniture to be more stable.

There are many innovative end caps of various shapes and sizes to fit the myriad of applications in the home, office and industry. Many of these end caps of rubber are used to allow an escape of build-up pressure in the pipes to avoid a blow-out.

Materials

There are many types of materials which can be used to make caps but rubber is the highly preferred material for end cap. Rubber caps can be made of higher rubber quality that can be stronger and more durable to be functional. Rubber is also an excellent material to be made into various shapes and sizes of rubber end caps according to the function. Hence, one can find round, rectangle or square to fit the pipe.

Harder rubber hardware end can be made to give a harder quality that is more durable and strong for the industrial application. Home piping can enjoy a longer lasting functionality with a harder rubber end cap. There is a variety of functional plastic inserts depending on the applications and budget.

The progressive technology today is developing a higher rubber tensile strength to cater to pipes and other open ended components which are constantly rubbed against one another. The advancing technology can develop a higher grade of rubber which offers a higher resistance to corrosion while being low on maintenance.

Three Steps to Writing an Ebook That Has Profit Potential

Are you considering writing an ebook, but aren't sure it would sell? In this article I'll give you the three steps for knowing if your ebook's niche has potential to generate sales. This information certainly isn't revolutionary, but it's amazing to me how many new authors either don't believe these steps are necessary or believe they don't apply to their situation. These three action steps will save you time and frustration if you adhere to them.

Create content that solves a problem. If your eBook only provides interesting, perhaps even entertaining information without solving a problem or meeting a need, then don't count on it selling a single copy. It must include content that helps a person get from point a to point b, or helps a person get unstuck.

It's relatively easy to find out whether or not a problem or need exists. People will be asking for a solution. You can determine this easily by searching online. If you find a lot of people asking for help in a particular area, then there's obviously a demand for this content. There is a bit more to it though, so lets proceed to step two.

Create content that is not readily available. Even if you discover that your eBook idea asks questions that are in demand, you need to make sure all the answers aren't readily available for free. Notice I used the word "readily". I personally believe that if someone has the time, he or she can find answers to almost any question. I wouldn't have made this statement twenty years ago, but we're living in a different age now. More information is accessible than ever before. Don't let this hinder you from writing your eBook though. A lot of information isn't readily available, meaning someone would have to search a long time and in multiple locations to find all the answers.

I've discovered that people will gladly pay for information already packaged for them in order to save time. I've purchased information online knowing I could find it free if I had the time. However, time is precious to me, so I happily paid for this information that I could download and consume immediately.

Now if you find information on a topic centrally located which solves most all the problems that your eBook would solve, then I would steer away from writing an eBook on that topic.

Create content that has lasting value. I love reading content that I know will benefit me for a long time. Most of us place a higher value on this type of content. If you have a great topic for writing an eBook that solves a problem and will include information that isn't readily available, make it really special by creating content that will add real, lasting value to your readers.

Applying for Deferred Action - Should I Hire an Attorney?

On June 15, 2012, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), under President Obama's instruction, issued a memorandum announcing that the DHS would offer deferred action to certain young people who came to the U.S. as children, now commonly known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). This program, partially inspired by the DREAM Act, enables some otherwise undocumented persons who were brought to the United States as children to remain here under a two-year deferred action order. This also grants them work permits and, depending on the state of residence, the chance to obtain driver's licenses and other state-specific benefits.

On August 15, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released the forms required to apply for this type of deferred action. Individuals are able to complete the forms themselves, and there is no requirement to be represented by an attorney. So why would you want to hire one?

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals is a one-time opportunity. This means that there are no appeals or reconsiderations; if your deferred action application is denied, you cannot reapply. The time, stress, and cost involved in a DACA application can be significant. It is extremely important to have your case prepared correctly the first time; the best way to have peace of mind is to work with an experienced immigration attorney who has represented thousands of clients like you. Since immigration practitioners have handled similar cases countless times before, they have experienced the issues that come with deferred action applications, and can anticipate many problems before they arise. Mistakes on your petition can delay your case significantly. If the USCIS requires more information, they will alert you by sending a Request for Evidence (RFE). The documentation that they ask for may or may not be easily available to you. If significant information is missing from your application, it may appear to the USCIS that you are ineligible for a grant of deferred action, and your case may be denied without the option to appeal. Representation by an immigration lawyer will ensure that the USCIS receives all of the information necessary to accurately and quickly review your case. The confidentiality provision of the DACA order is not ironclad. Your DACA application, unfortunately, does not grant you any immunity regarding your background. If you have any kind of criminal record, it is wise to consult with an immigration attorney prior to filing your case to discuss the ramifications of disclosing this information. Your criminal record can be shared with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP). An experienced immigration attorney will be able to help you weigh the risks and benefits of disclosing the information required for application. The DACA order does include a provision that protects your information, but the information that you provide will remain on file with the USCIS permanently. Thus, if you are undocumented, it is important for you to consult an experienced immigration attorney to understand fully the implications of applying for DACA. Your attorney will be able to help you determine the ramifications of disclosing your information, as well as explore other options that might be available to your family. Your background check and biometrics information affect your application. Without documentation, many childhood arrivals have used alternative methods to find employment, attend school, operate motor vehicles, etc. Some states consider these actions to be misdemeanors, which affect your eligibility for deferred action. All criminal activity will appear on your background check, regardless of whether it has been expunged, and some types of convictions may cause ineligibility for DACA. The legal advice provided by an experienced immigration attorney can mean the difference between winning your case quickly and missing your one-time opportunity for deferred action. Deferred action may not be the best option available to you. DACA ensures two years of deferred status, as well as a work permit, but it may be possible that you qualify for more. Since immigration law changes frequently, some individuals may not be aware of what their options are beyond deferred action. Spanish Food - How To Prepare Boquerones

Whilst on your travels in Spain and pausing to take a breath from site-seeing, you have surely experimented with "tapas" at a welcoming bar.

If this is the case, it is more than likely that you have come across the small, tasty filleted fish, preserved in olive oil, sliced garlic and chopped parsley, and highly popular throughout Spain. This delectable dish is usually known as "boquerones" but, depending on the area, can also be called "anchoas".

Boquerones are small, fresh anchovies. Accompanied by crisp, fresh Spanish bread, a glass of ruby-red wine or refreshing Asturian cider, they are a delight to eat. Moreover - as with many traditional Spanish dishes which comprise the renowned Mediterranean Diet - they are extremely healthy.

Like its friend the sardine, the anchovy is an oily fish, packed full of proteins and minerals, protecting against heart disease, and "good" for cholesterol. What´s more, in many areas of Spain -in particular the Mediterranean coast - fresh anchovies are extremely cheap.

On first coming to Spain, I happily enjoyed many tapas of boquerones, completely unaware of one fact ... all those little anchovies I had eaten were not cooked! For a moment, I deeply regretted asking my Spanish neighbor, Carmen, how to make them!

Fortunately, Carmen went into immediate action and saved the day! She frog-marched me to the local fishmongers, bought a kilo of the little fish, took me home and showed me "her way" of preparing them. They were so delicious that I quickly recovered my passion for boquerones and have been enjoying them ever since!

Methods for preparing boquerones tend to vary slightly from family to family. However, the basic principles are always the same. You first have to clean and fillet the fish, which is simple enough, but rather tedious until you get the hang of it.

Next, you soak the fillets, either in white wine vinegar or a mixture of half vinegar and half water. The vinegar will clean and bleach the fish and also soften any remaining little bones. Some people sprinkle the fish with salt; others (myself included) feel that the fish is salty enough already.

The fish has to be left for a good few hours soaking in the vinegar. Again, this tends to vary, with some Spaniards leaving them overnight in the fridge and others just waiting a couple of hours. Also, some families change the vinegar/water-and-vinegar mixture once during this process, whilst others don´t bother.

Once you have thrown away the vinegar, the bleached fillets are covered with a good quality virgin olive oil, which will preserve them. You can add as much, or as little, sliced garlic as you wish, plus freshly chopped parsley.

So ... here is the actual recipe.

BOQUERONES

Ingrediants: - 1 kilo fresh anchovies. - White wine vinegar. - Virgin olive oil. - Garlic. - Parsley. - Salt (optional).

Method:

1. Top and tail anchovies.

2. Slit along underside and discard innards.

3. Open out fish.

4. Remove central bone by lifting from tail end upwards.

5. Rinse well.

6. Place a layer of anchovy fillets in a shallow dish.

7. Sprinkle with salt (optional) and pour on plenty of vinegar.

8. Repeat with another layer, changing direction.

9. Leave to soak in vinegar for a few hours or overnight.

10. Pour off vinegar.

11. Very gently rinse fillets.

12. Cover fillets in virgin olive oil.

13. Add slices of garlic and chopped parsley.

It is so pleasant to find something in life that is a delight to the senses, affordable, healthy and does nobody any harm (apologies to any vegetarians out there and, also, the little anchovies ...). So ... do make the most of fresh anchovies whilst you are in Spain and enjoy!

Learning the Whole Process of Adoption in India

The laws that usually govern the whole legal process of adoption in India include allowing citizens in India who are Buddhists, Sikhs, Hindus and Jains to undergo the formal adoption procedure. This legal process is usually governed by the 1956 Act called Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act. This Act prevents married couples and single parents to legally adopt over one child who have similar gender. For Jews, Christians, Parsis and Muslims who are Indian nationals, foreign citizens or non-resident Indians desiring to adopt, the 1890 Act called Guardian and Wards Act govern them. This Act only allows adoptive parents to act as the legal guardian until the child reaches the age of eighteen.

If you are a foreign citizen, then be aware that selecting the right agency for adoption governed by an Indian program is crucial in undergoing a smoother process of adoption in India. A wise tip is to look for a reputable and legitimate agency which can provide you with credentials regarding their previous records of child placement and their connections to reputable agencies within the country. Make sure, however, that you do not believe everything that the agency's representative says. You should consider doing your own independent research by getting the addresses of those parents who adopted kids through the agency and talking to them. You have to know exactly if these parents experienced a smooth-sailing or a rough adoption process when dealing with the agency.

If you want to be able to enjoy a smooth-sailing process of adoption in India, then you have to be really careful in finding an adoption agency. Keep in mind that not all of the accredited Indian agencies can offer you excellent service. If you are not careful, then you will end up dealing with an agency run by people who may badly look after the child you are planning to adopt while you are still waiting for the legal papers to be completed.

It is also important for you to note that you will become eligible to adopt after your chosen agency completes a home evaluation or study. This means that a social worker will be in charge in assessing your suitability for adoption through home visits and interviews. If you gain approval after the home evaluation or study, then you will be able to register with your chosen adoption agency. Just make sure that this agency gains approval from CARA in India which stands for the country's Central Adoption Resource Agency. For non-Indian residents or families who plan to adopt, the requirement is to assemble files of required documentation and send these to CARA.

The process of adoption in India is also governed by the Indian government which requires agencies and prospective parents to strictly follow a protocol for child placement. In most cases, the process starts by requiring CARA to look for an Indian family who is qualified to adopt. If after thirty days no suitable family or adoptive parent is still found, CARA is going to issue a certificate of clearance, qualifying the child for inter-country adoption. A suitable family which meets the specific requirements and submits the required files of documentation gets the chance to bring home the child.
